At SortCopy, we believe your clipboard data is fundamentally private. We've built our application with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought. This policy explains our approach to your data.

Data Storage

All your clipboard data stays on your local machine. Period.

SortCopy stores all clipboard history, snippets, and settings locally on your computer. We do not:

  • Upload your clipboard contents to any server
  • Store your data in the cloud
  • Share your data with third parties
  • Access your clipboard data remotely

What We Collect

For our waitlist and website, we may collect:

  • Email addresses — Only if you voluntarily join our waitlist
  • Feedback submissions — Only if you choose to send us feedback
  • Basic analytics — Anonymous page views and interactions to improve our website

The Desktop Application

The SortCopy desktop application operates entirely offline. It:

  • Does not require an internet connection to function
  • Does not send telemetry or usage data
  • Does not contain analytics or tracking code
  • Stores all data in a local SQLite database on your machine

Data Security

Your clipboard history is stored locally using SQLite with standard file system permissions. The data is as secure as any other file on your computer. We recommend:

  • Using strong Windows account passwords
  • Enabling full disk encryption (BitLocker) for sensitive data
  • Keeping your operating system updated

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

  • Access — All your data is visible within the application
  • Deletion — Delete individual clips or clear all history anytime
  • Export — Export your data in standard formats (coming soon)
  • Uninstall — Removing the app deletes all local data

Future Cloud Features

We plan to offer optional cloud sync features in the future. When available:

  • Cloud sync will be entirely opt-in
  • Data will be end-to-end encrypted
  • You can use SortCopy fully offline without cloud features
  • This policy will be updated before any cloud features launch
